Vulnerability Summary for CVE-2013-1416

Original release date: 04/19/2013
Last revised: 11/30/2013

The prep_reprocess_req function in do_tgs_req.c in the Key Distribution Center (KDC) in MIT Kerberos 5 (aka krb5) before 1.10.5 does not properly perform service-principal realm referral, which allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and daemon crash) via a crafted TGS-REQ request.

CVSS Severity (version 2.0):
CVSS v2 Base Score: 4.0 MEDIUM
Impact Subscore: 2.9
Exploitability Subscore: 8.0
CVSS Version 2 Metrics:
Access Vector: Network exploitable
Access Complexity: Low
Authentication: Required to exploit
Impact Type: Allows disruption of service
