Vulnerability Summary for CVE-2011-4858

Original release date: 01/05/2012
Last revised: 03/05/2014
Source: US-CERT/NIST

Overview

Apache Tomcat before 5.5.35, 6.x before 6.0.35, and 7.x before 7.0.23 computes hash values for form parameters without restricting the ability to trigger hash collisions predictably, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) by sending many crafted parameters.

Impact

CVSS Severity (version 2.0):
CVSS v2 Base Score: 5.0 (MEDIUM) (AV:N/AC:L/AU:N/C:N/I:N/A:P) (legend)
Impact Subscore: 2.9
Exploitability Subscore: 10.0
CVSS Version 2 Metrics:
Access Vector: Network exploitable
Access Complexity: Low
Authentication: Not required to exploit
Impact Type: Allows disruption of service
