Overview

The strListGetItem function in src/HttpHeaderTools.c in Squid 2.7 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted auth header with certain comma delimiters that trigger an infinite loop of calls to the strcspn function.

Red Hat is aware of this issue and is tracking it via the following bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2009-2855 This issue did not affect the versions of the Squid packages, as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 and 4. The Red Hat Security Response Team has rated this issue as having low security impact, a future Squid package update may address this flaw in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.
